The Market is not only a great "exhibition" of all the local goods: mushrooms, flowers, meat, cheese, pickles & fish just to name a few, but also a unique architectural solution - recycling leftovers from WWI , German built zeppelin hangars. The market was opened right at the high time of the newly established Latvia, during its first independence, in 1930. So huge and modern it was and still is up today.
Together with Riga Old Town and Art Nouveau heritage also the Central Market is included in UNESCO World Heritage Site list. How many zeppelin hangars have you seen in your life? Here is an article about some of them: "Airship Hangars Around The World"
